SECOND RACE

AMERICAN GRIT will be the huge favorite in this race due to prior trainer (Baffert) and solid debut effort. This gelding cost 425K yet was eligible to be claimed for only 20K at Santa Anita. He was claimed but the claim was voided. The leading barn takes over and is 20% with new runners. Local works are noted. Added distance is a plus. Although this horse is the most likely winner he is still a 5YO making only his second start. It is interesting that this field came up quite strong for the level and that doesn’t even include this horse. SARGE’S SERMON just ran better and did so when first time going a route of ground. New barn is 9% off the claim. We like that they want the same distance right back. AGADOR SPARTACUS is the other Evans’ runner. This gelding can get the distance and drops in class. Team Evans is 29% turf to dirt. Any chance this guy is simply better on the turf? Connections turn this guy around very quickly.

THIRD RACE

WALK SOFTLY is better of late and is bred to continue that trend especially on the turf. She gets good race flow, draws fine, and is often a decent price. TRULY A MESS is another runner that is bred to like the green with her 358 turf Tomlinson. This filly lures the top jock in HH and he is 44% for this barn. If this filly can relax early, then her trip should be acceptable. BREAKFAST BALL passed runners and ran well only three back when losing by a neck. Is this mare better with a target? That won’t be a problem today.

FOURTH RACE

MISTY MATT seems to run better every other start so that might bode well for today. She exits a key race where 2 of 7 returned to win (lone available Beyer is 64). This mare did have a little trouble in her recent start and was trying the turf and two turns both for the first time. Now she cuts back to the dirt and one turn and that makes perfect sense. There is good speed in this race and this
