Midlothian Park District opens new rec center Suburban Service League sets virtual event
The Midlothian Park District has opened it new Athletic & Recreation Center, located at 14500 S. KostnerAve. in Midlothian.
In March 2018 the Park
District passed a referendum to renovate and expand the existingRecreation Center which had been built in 1975.
After many months of meetings and construction, the Athletic and Recreation Center, or ARC, opened to the public Oct. 12. The new facility includes a fitness center, dance/fitness room, multiple meeting/ party rooms, preschool/program rooms, suspended walking track, renovated gymnasium, and a turf field. A Splash Pad will also be added and will open in the spring
Both yearly and monthly fitness memberships are available, and the walking track is free for Midlothian Residents.
The Midlothian Park District will be having a Grand Opening Celebration at 10 a.m. Nov. 7.
The Suburban Service League, which has been providing financialandservice support to area people and charities for the last 55 years will host its biggest fundraiser of the year virtually this year.
The Virtual Crystal Ball is at 7 p.m. Nov. 7. This live event will feature music from Maggie Speaks and will spotlight the Crisis Center for South Suburbia. There will be raffle prizes as well as a silent auction. Registration for this event is at https:// live.avchicago .com/ssl.
Within the last year alone, SSL has donated over $94,000to peopleandcharitable organizations within the community, has served hundreds of meals to homeless men through the PADS organization, distributed 3250 pairs of Bombas socks to individuals in need and their members have spent countless hours donating their time to local organizations.
