Wiffle ball event returns to Midlothian
Organizers said this week they plan to bring the World Wiffle Ball Championship back to Midlothian after the event’s one-year stint in Indiana.
Plans are to hold the 42nd World Wiffle Ball Championship on Aug. 14-15 at Memorial Park in Midlothian. In a release, event organizers called last year’s event “a one-year nostalgic return to Mishawaka for the 2020 WWBC due to COVID-19.”
“We will continue to monitor COVID-19 throughout the spring and early summer and provide updates, as necessary,” organizers said in the release.
The event moved from Indiana to Midlothian for the first time in 2018.

Large-scale vaccination site set for South Holland
Cook County will open its third large-scale vaccine administration site at South Suburban College in South
Holland to continue vaccinations for individuals eligible under Phase 1b.
Phase 1b includes those age 65 and older and essential workers such as first responders, manufacturing employees and grocery store personnel, an estimated 600,000 suburban Cook County residents.
“While current vaccine supply does not meet the demand and in fact has been exhausted, we are standing up large scale sites now to ensure that we are ready as vaccine supply is expected to increase in the weeks and months ahead,”
Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle said.
Along with South Suburban College, the county has setup up large vaccination sites at the Tinley Park Convention Center in Tinley Park and Triton College in River Grove. When ample vaccine supply becomes available, the Cook County Health Department estimates it will be able to provide more than 4,000 vaccines weekly at South Suburban College.
Vaccinations at all Cook County Health sites are provided by appointment only. When vaccine becomes available, Cook County Health will announce the availability of new appointments, which can be made at vaccine .cookcountyil.gov or by calling 833-308-1988.
