Robert Reich suggests

the federal government should have more power and control over the Supreme Court, the Federal Reserve and large private companies. He states we should not believe the Supreme Court bases its decisions on neutral and objective criteria. I don’t think Reich would have written this column if the Supreme Court had a majority of left-leaning justices. Giving more power to the executive or legislative branch over the Supreme Court or Federal Reserve is inherently a bad idea that our founding fathers recognized.

Jim, Orland Park Robert Reich’s latest

column about three powerful and unelected forces in our society was spot on: Supreme Court, Federal Reserve Bank and the big four hi-tech behemoths. However, he forgot one other very powerful and unelected force: The news media, in all its forms and with all its biases.

Hey Joe from Hickory Hills, I’m with you, that siren at the Bears games irritates me to no end. The people who made this decision need something else to blow this noise at the stadium. Who would think that this would promote fans at home games? Not me. Hey, get a new gig. MAN, Bridgeview

There are people who are more afraid of the COVID-19 vaccine than the virus itself. No amount of convincing will make them step away from the cliff. There are people who profess my body, my choice. I bet they are against abortion also. My solution is to continue to make the vaccine free through the end of the year. If you want to be vaccinated after Dec. 31, then you must pay for the vaccine. Children 5-12 will continue to get the vaccine free. I am vaccinated and will continue to wear a mask until I am told not to. Mike, Tinley Park

In response to Don, only citizens can vote, at least in Illinois. Also, it takes at least five years to become a citizen. I doubt that people are streaming across the border to vote for Biden and the Democrats. That said, lack of control at the border is a serious problem. No one should be allowed to cross without prior authorization from a U.S. Consulate in whatever country they are residing. Anyone else is trespassing.
