A 19-year-old Lynwood woman died in a shooting outside a Midlothian bar early Sunday while a Harvey man has been charged in a separate shooting that occurred Saturday in the village, according to police.

Shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday, police were in the parking lot of SVN Bar, 4660 W. 147th St., when gunshots were heard coming from behind the business, police said.

Officers found a woman, Morgan Brown, in the street with apparent gunshot wounds and she was taken to Advocate Aurora Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where she died, police said.

She died from multiple gunshot wounds and her death was ruled a homicide, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

A second woman who suffered gunshot wounds to an arm and leg was also taken to Christ Medical Center.

A preliminary investigation shows that the victims were patrons of SVN. Police are being assisted by the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force. Police believe a single shooter was involved, who was also a customer of the bar.

In a shooting Saturday, people attending a party at the Midlothian Park District’s Recreation Center, 14500 S. Kostner Ave., were shot at but there were no injuries, according to police.

Police were called to the facility shortly after 7 p.m. and witnesses told officers a person suspected in the shooting was leaving in a vehicle, according to police.

The vehicle was stopped and a handgun recovered, and Cleo Rogers, 32, of Harvey, is charged with felony reckless discharge of a firearm and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, according to police.

More than one shooter was involved in the park district shooting, and police ask that anyone with information in that shooting or the SVN shooting contact Midlothian detectives at 708-752-8960.
