Nutrition shop opens in Alsip, oil change shop coming to Palos Heights

A wellness bar opened earlier this fall in Alsip.

Intentiona­l Nutrition, 11951 S. Pulaski Road, is owned by sisters Dianna Parkman and Deanna Parkman and their uncle Michael Cornelius.

The shop held its grand opening in late October and features hot and cold energy teas, oatmeal protein bowls, power crunch cups, skinny coffee, protein shakes and meal replacemen­t shakes.

“Everything we sell boosts metabolism, promotes immunity and gives you extra energy,” said Dianna Parkman.

“We’re in the heart of the community,” she said.

Hours are from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Santa’s Christmas Market opens

A holiday marketplac­e for vendors selling everything from Christmas trees to ornaments from around the world is now open on weekends in Bridgeview.

Santa’s Christmas Market has taken over the southwest corner of the shopping plaza at Harlem Avenue and 79th Street, the old Kmart plaza.

There will be a grand opening from 3-9 p.m. Dec. 4 and 5. Regular hours will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. through Dec. 19.

Designed for the whole family to enjoy, the market will offer visitors the chance to explore vendors and products from around the world while listening to the sound of festive music.

Cost is $5 per person.

Oil change business approved

A new oil change business

will take the place of a former oil change business in Palos Heights.

Take 5 Oil Change plans to move into the building on 12861 Harlem Ave. that used to house Jiffy Lube.

Take 5 s website says it offers a 10-minute oil change where patrons can stay in their car.

The city council made several decisions regarding the new venture at its Nov. 16 meeting.

The council authorized the city attorney to draft an ordinance allowing an automobile special use to operate within an existing structure within a B District. It allows use consistent with oil changes, coolant flushes, topping off fluids, tire inflation, cabin and air filter changes and does not consist of mechanical repairs. tire changes, use of a pneumatic drill or other services that emit noxious odors and loud noises.

The council also approved a permanent sign request to allow an oil can logo to exceed code and also approved a 10-foottall monument sign plus signage on three walls.

There are 15 locations in Illinois, the closest in Oak Lawn and Midlothian.

Pass Health Foods adds liquor

Pass Health Foods in

Palos Heights has begun selling wines, beers and ciders.

The health food store at 7228 W. College Drive has selected an assortment of wines that are organic, vegan, and sulfite free. They have local organic and gluten-free beer. They also have local craft ciders.

The store will celebrate with a free wine and beer tasting and ribbon-cutting from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 11.

A wine expert will be on hand to offer a variety of organic, vegan, and sulfite free wines.

Sam LaGrow from LaGrow Beer, a craft beer company, will have samples of their beer.

There will be a raffle for a $100 gift card.

Pass Health Foods has been in business for 26 years and is women-owned.

Jeffrey Lamorte Day Salon moves

Jeffrey Lamorte Day Salon held a grand opening

on November 17 at their new Orland Park location.

The salon moved into new digs at 15631 S. 94th Avenue in the Sunrise Plaza.

Hours are the same and the phone number is still 708-364-0660.
