New Bath & Body Works opens

A new Bath & Body Works store is now open in The Quarry shopping center in Hodgkins.

The new store at 9430 Joliet Road held its grand opening May 20. The store is next to the Walmart.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

The retail chain sells soaps, lotions, fragrances and candles. It was founded in 1990 in New Albany, Ohio.

Frankfort health clinic shuttered

Specialty Physicians of Illinois closed the SPI ExpressCar­e location at 20180 LaGrange Road in Frankfort on May 27.

The group said the location had lower-than-expected volumes and struggled to attract an adequate patient base.

SPI location in Olympia Fields, Homewood and Chicago Heights will remain open and continue to offer same-day appointmen­ts to area patients.

“We apologize for the inconvenie­nce this may cause,” Sheree Boyd, Specialty Physicians of Illinois operations manager, said in a release.

Salina’s Pizza closes in Tinley Park

Salina’s Pizza and Catering has shut down operations at its Tinley Park location but a smaller location in Frankfort remains open.

Salina’s opened as a pizzeria in 1995 and soon expanded to offer catering and provided everything from the food to the tables and chairs as well as tents.

Now the business is closed and its building at 7551 W. 175th St. is for sale and is priced at $589,000.

Salina’s was founded in Oak Lawn by Neal Hummitsch and Don Jaros. After two years, they relocated to Dan D. Jacs in Orland Hills.

In 2000, they decided to move again into their own larger storefront in Tinley Park.

A smaller shop that opened in Frankfort at 21114 S. LaGrange Road.

It is open as a restaurant Friday, Saturday and Sunday and as a catering business Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Hummitsch and Jaros segued into the wine business in 2020 when they opened Sip Wine Bar at 17424 S. Oak Park Ave. in downtown Tinley Park.

Since opening, they have added a full-service kitchen, a large covered patio in the rear, a wine cellar, an apartment above, and a small patio in front.

UChicago Medicine Cancer Center completes expansion

HSA PrimeCare announced the completion in May of a 5,168-square-foot expansion of The University of Chicago Medicine Comprehens­ive Cancer Center on the Silver Cross Hospital campus in New Lenox.

UChicago Medicine was looking to expand its medical oncology program, located on the second floor of the cancer center, and met with HSA PrimeCare, the developer and owner of the building, to outline its growth requiremen­ts.

“We’re proud to collaborat­e with UChicago Medicine to expand health care services for cancer patients in the region,” John Wilson, president of HSA PrimeCare, said in a release.

Developed in 2012, the property is fully leased to Silver Cross Hospital and UChicago Medicine, whose cancer center was the first modern oncology facility of its kind in Chicago’s south suburbs. To serve a higher volume of patients, 11 exam rooms, five physician offices and two research offices were added, and one suite was built out to accommodat­e additional exam rooms and treatment areas.
