Marlee Matlin makes her directorial debut in the new episode “Ava’s Story,” involving a deaf surrogate (Stephanie Nogueras) who is forced to take protective action. Megan Boone and Aaron Ashmore also star.
American Masters: ‘Roberta Flack’ PBS, 8 p.m.
This film traces music icon Robert Flack’s journey from her start in a piano lounge to her rise to stardom thanks to iconic performances of classics like “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” and “Killing Me Softly.” Flack’s virtuosity was inseparable from her commitment to civil rights, and her story is detailed here in her own words, enhanced by access to her archives as well as interviews with the Rev. That Dirty Black Bag New Series

Remember, a head weighs less than a body when it comes to hauling around that dirty black bag. AMC’s gritty spaghetti Western tells a story over eight long days following the encounter and clash between two men: McCoy (Dominic Cooper), an apparently incorruptible sheriff with a dark past, and Red Bill (Douglas Booth), a dirty, taciturn bounty killer trapped in a desire for vengeance that cannot be fulfilled.
