Mrs. Lanita Waldrop Jones, 66, passed away on December 30, 2022, in Houston, Texas following a brief but brave battle with cancer. Lanita was born October 17, 1956, in Springhill, Louisiana, the daughter of Martha Jean Waldrop Parkerson and the late Rudolph Waldrop. Lanita married Robert Jones on December 15, 1973, and together they built a life they loved. She was a hard- working and dedicated wife and mother with a heart for serving and taking care of others.

Visitation will be Friday, January 6, 2023, from 5: 00 to 8: 00 pm at Calvert Funeral Home in West Point. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 10: 00 am at First Baptist Church in West Point with Bro. Dale Funderburg officiatin­g. Burial will follow in Cedar Bluff Cumberland Presbyteri­an Cemetery. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangemen­ts.

Lanita was preceded in death by her father and one grandson, Jonathan Fondren. In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by three daughters, Stephany Watson ( Kent) of Cedar Bluff, Amanda Fondren ( Jason) of Columbus, and Heather Lawley ( Ben) also of Cedar Bluff; eight grandchild­ren, Brandon Clardy ( Kellie), Josh Watson ( Kacey), Bryan Robert Watson, Baker Watson, Morgan Franks ( Alyssa), Raichel Franks ( Austin Pinkerton), Holland Lawley, and Hinton Lawley; two honorary grandchild­ren, Reagan Freeman of West Point and Cristil Salgado of Brazil: five great- grandchild­ren, Dalton and Gracyn Clardy, Kinsleigh, Tucker, and Sawyer Franks; one sister, Nancy Petty of Cedar Bluff; one brother, Richard Waldrop ( Cynthia) of Benton, Louisiana, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

Pallbearer­s will be Brandon Clardy, Jeremy Dubois, Morgan Franks, Austin Pinkerton, Josh Watson, Bryan Robert Watson, and Baker Watson. Honorary Pallbearer­s will be Hinton Lawley, Tucker Franks, Sawyer Franks, and her nephews.
