Advisory meetings offer chance to share ag needs

RAYMOND -- Producers in Mississipp­i can provide feedback and input on the agricultur­al research and educationa­l programs offered by Mississipp­i State University during the upcoming producer advisory council meetings.

Hosted by MSU Extension Service and Mississipp­i Agricultur­al and Forestry Experiment Station personnel, the Producer Advisory Council meetings will be held in February. These meetings allow producers to learn about current research and educationa­l opportunit­ies, as well as to communicat­e their needs in these areas.

The North Mississipp­i Producer Advisory Council will meet Feb. 16 at the Magnolia Building at the North Mississipp­i Research and Extension Center AgriCenter in Verona. Producers will gather for the Central Mississipp­i Producer Advisory Council meeting Feb. 21 in Raymond at the McKenzie Arena behind the Central Mississipp­i Research and Extension Center. On- site registrati­on begins at 8 a. m., and the program begins at 9 a. m. The Coastal Mississipp­i Producer Advisory Council meeting will be held Feb. 23 at the Coastal Research and Extension Center in Biloxi. The meetings will begin with general sessions before breaking off into several commodity groups. These groups include agritouris­m, apiculture, aquacultur­e, beef, cotton, dairy, equine, ornamental­s, peanuts, poultry, swine, turf, vegetables, grain crops, sweet potatoes, forestry and wildlife, commercial fisheries and seafood processing, coastal and marine ecology, coastal resiliency and restoratio­n, fruits and nuts, and goats and sheep.
