Hester Smith

Edward “Hester” Smith passed away Monday January 30, 2023 at NMMC-West Point at the age of 95. He was born July 26, 1927 in West Point, MS to the late Edward Vernon Smith and Martha Hester Smith. He worked for United Produce and eventually became the owner, having served 78 years with the company. He was a member of the First Christian Church in West Point. He was very dedicated to the church, serving as Elder and a Sunday School Teacher.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM Saturday February 4, 2023 at Robinson Funeral Home with Rev. Eric Ross officiating. Visitation will be 12:30-2 PM on Saturday at Robinson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Blake Smith, Dawson Smith, Austin Davis, Jeremy Harris, David Smith, Paul Strom, Robert Pack, Steve Mitchener. Honorary pallbearers are Men's 90 & 9 Sunday School Class, employes of United Produce. The family would like to extend a special thanks to his caregivers, Betty Edwards, Jeanette Smith, Irene Dailey, Jackie Byas, Candice Wood.

He is survived by his 2 sons, Mike Smith (Elizabeth) of Columbus, Andy Smith (Cindy) of Starkville; daughter, Cathy Davis (Charlie) of Summerville, SC; 2 sisters, Jeanie Leggett (Danny) of West Point, Pat Shaffer of West Point; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; a special friend, Marie Kelley.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mary Jane Smith.
