Upper Darby rolls Middletown for its 10th win

Upper Darby became the first team in the Delco League to reach 10 wins this season when the Blue Sox battered Middletown, 15-3, Sunday.

Zach Fortuna went the distance, striking out six and limiting the Lions to four hits.

Mike Annone drove in five runs, scored three times and saw each of his four hits go for extra bases, including three doubles and a triple. A.J. Lerro added three hits and scored twice for the Blue Sox (10-40).

Elsewhere in the Delco League: NARBERTH 10, CONCORD 0 >> Marty McKeone yielded just two hits and a pair of walks and sent down six Canes on strikes over six innings, and Chris Goggin came on to preserve the shutout.

Mike White went 4 for 5 with two RBIs while Randy Milia (three RBIs), Sean Spratt (one RBI) and Steve DeBarberie (one RBI) added two hits apiece as the Mudcats (9-2) rode a 15-hit attack to victory. ASTON VALLEY 6, CHESTER 1>> Steve Maloney kept the Chester batters off balance, scattering six hits and striking out seven over seven innings for the win.

Sam Farnell knocked in two runs with a pair of singles and Nick Bateman ripped a two-run double to provide more than enough offense for the Knights (47).

Delco MSBL

Bill Cody was the pitcher of record in both games, allowing five hits in six innings of work, as the Media Mustangs swept a doublehead­er from Aston, 8-1 and 13-0.

P.J. Pisani drove in four runs on a single and a double, Robert Fisk picked up three RBIs on four hits, including a double and a triple, and Kevin Toler, Matt Palmer and Joe Marra knocked in two runs apiece. Dan Zuccari doubled in a run and also hurled two scoreless innings against the Marauders.

Senior EDCO

Jimmy Calabrese drove in four runs with two hits, including a bases-clearing double that broke open a tight contest in the fifth inning, allowing Briarcliff­e to pull away at Norwood, 11-2.

Kevin George went the distance, tossing a five-hitter while fanning six. Vince Tomasetti (2 for 3) and Ty Bluford scored two runs each in the win. BROOKHAVEN 11, MARPLE II 4>> Jesse Kulp racked up eight strikeouts and surrendere­d just three hits in going the distance, with Randy Blanda (three hits) pacing a 13-hit attack.

Intermedia­te EDCO

Winning pitcher Jeff Rapp was effective on the mound over three innings and keyed the offense with a two-run double, as BYC downed Aston, 7-3.

Patrick Finn also drove in a pair of runs for BYC, which received seven hits spread throughout the lineup.

Prep Legion

Luke Jacobson worked a bases-loaded walk to bring home Gavin Severa with the winning run, capping a wild rally that lifted Nether Providence over Wissahicko­n, 5-4.

Sammy Woolf, who contribute­d a run-scoring single as part of the three-run outburst, combined with Jacobson to allow just two earned runs while striking out seven for the Bulldogs.
