Middletown man busted in attempted Crozer bank heist
UPLAND >> A Middletown man has been charged in connection with the attempted robbery at a bank inside Crozer-Chester Medical Center earlier this month.
Police were dispatched to the Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union, located on the third floor at Crozer, for a reported attempted robbery on July 12 shortly before 1 p.m. A weapon was implied but not shown.
Keith Alexander Nickerson, 34, of the first block of Barren Road, was identified as a suspect by witnesses at the scene, as well as through confidential tips following publication of a surveillance photograph published in print in the Daily Times and online at delcotimes.com, according to a release issued by Acting Police Chief Michael Irey.
Nickerson was taken into custody on July 27 and during the course of an interview with investigators, “provided a statement admitting to the charges,” the release states.
Nickerson was preliminarily arraigned before Senior Magisterial District Justice Thomas Lacey at the Brookhaven District Court and was remanded to the George W Hill Correctional Facility after failing to post 10 percent of $250,000 bail.
A preliminary hearing is listed for Aug. 3 before Magisterial District Judge C. Walter McCray III.
The investigation was conducted by Upland Police Detective Anthony Deluise, with assistance from Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union Investigator George Brown.
