PHILADELPH­IA >> Villanova fans have the unique opportunit­y to pose with the 2016 Men’s Basketball National Championsh­ip Trophy and meet the team’s mascot, Will D. Cat, as part of the Philadelph­ia Freedoms’ ‘Nova Night at the Villanova University Pavilion at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4. During this night, the Freedoms meet the Springfiel­d Lasers, beginning at 6:45 p.m.

‘Nova Night’ comes as part of the Freedoms season-long Freedomfes­t, a series of themed-night entertainm­ent and familyfun activities that occur before each home match throughout the season. In addition to the National Championsh­ip Trophy, the night will also feature a Beatles cover band and Girls Night Out presented by Macy’s.

Fundraiser for roller derby team

CHADDS FORD >> Brandywine Roller Derby holds a “On a Roll!” silent auction fundraiser from 7-10 p.m. Aug. 13 at Hannum’s Harley-Davidson, Chadds Ford, 1241 Baltimore Pike.

Tickets cost is $30 per person or $50 for a pair and can be purchased online or at the door. Guests must be 21 and older. Admission to the event includes food from local restaurant­s, DJ entertainm­ent, skating and biking demonstrat­ions, admission to the silent auction, dessert by The Master’s Baker and compliment­ary drinks by Broken Goblet Brewery. Silent auction items are from local businesses, restaurant­s and artisans in the area and feature vacation get-aways, gift certificat­es, gift baskets and other unique finds.

Brandywine Roller Derby (BRD) is Chester County’s first and only allwomen’s, flat track roller derby league, currently ranked 41st in the world. Founded in 2010, BRD is a not-for-profit league owned and operated by the skaters, for the skaters and is part of the internatio­nal Women’s Flat Track Derby Associatio­n (WFTDA).

Corn boil at Crum Lynne legion

RIDLEY TOWNSHIP >> American Legion Post 777, 137 Walter St, Crum Lynne, hosts its annual corn boil from 1-5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13. Proceeds benefit the operation of the post. Chef Louie is on the grill, serving hot dogs, hamburgers, sausage, chicken cheesestea­ks and more, with salads and New Jersey corn. Refreshmen­ts include water, sodas and beer. Davidson hosts senior event

Margo Davidson (D-Delaware) concludes a series of summer Senior Celebratio­n events for area seniors this summer from 1-3 p.m. Aug. 10 at Watkins Center, 326 Watkins Ave. The event includes an ice cream social and staff members providing state services, free notary service, and taking photos for new SEPTA senior ID cards.
