Officials: Ex-councilman dies from injuries in 1989 accident
ALLENTOWN >> Authorities say a former borough councilman in eastern Pennsylvania died over the weekend from injuries he suffered in a traffic accident more than two decades ago.
The Morning Call of Allentown reported Wednesday that 67-year-old Michael Bond of Topton died Sunday afternoon at an Allentown hospital from complications of paraplegia he sustained in a 1989 car wreck.
Paraplegia is motor and sensory paralysis of the entire lower half of the body.
The crash happened on U.S. Route 222 near Reading. Bond was 40 years old at the time. The building project consultant had served as a Topton Borough councilman and was an avid sportsman.
