Dinosaurs are back to wrap up the U.D. Summer Stage season

-

UPPER DARBY >> Upper Darby Summer Stage wraps up its 41st season with an unforgettable adventure for all ages as it presents “The Dinosaur Musical.” Performances are 10:30 a.m. Aug. 1012 and 7:30 p.m. Aug. 11 at the Upper Darby Performing Arts Center, 601 N. Lansdowne Ave., Drexel Hill.

“The Dinosaur Musical” takes audiences back to a time when carnivores and herbivores shared a common goal — staying alive! As the characters sing “It Stinks To Be Extinct,” they realize they need to work together to ensure survival and the two groups must come up with a solution. In the meantime a young T-Rex inherits his father’s kingdom facing all of these troubles, plus an active volcano. Through it all, there is singing, dancing and plenty of laughter as some spaghetti-loving dinosaurs seek peace and harmony… and pasta!

Director Amanda Snarski said, “As we prepare for this production, events around the world remind us that the dinosaurs struggling for peaceful survival are not unlike ourselves.” She added, “The characters onstage face challenges as big as achieving peace, but must also find acceptance and love among one another. These messages are timeless, but will resonate even more in light of the struggles facing us in our country and in our world right now.”

A Summer Stage show is a unique experience. Young audience members are invited to come early to performances to participate in fun pre-show activities and stay after the show to meet cast members.

For 41 seasons Upper Darby Summer Stage has been empowering young people and entertaining families throughout the Philadelphia region. A two-time consecutive winner of the Main Line Parent’s “Best Children Theatre” Love Award, the program is also a five-time consecutive MyFoxPhilly HotList winner in the “Best Theatre” category.

Ticket costs are $7-11 and can be purchased online at www.udpac.org or by calling the box office at 610-622-1189. The show is approximately 60 minutes with no intermission. Parking is free. The show is ideal for ages four and up and free babysitting is offered for siblings who may be too young to sit through the entire show.
