Sun Valley High School welcomes new principal, Patrick Sasse
ASTON >> The Penn-Delco Board of School Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Patrick Sasse as Sun Valley’s next principal. Appointed to the position during the Sept. 21 school board meeting, Sasse will join Penn-Delco this fall and will take on the post previously held by Pete Donaghy.
Sasse is currently the principal at Schuylkill Valley High School in the Schuylkill Valley School District. Prior to his time at Schuylkill Valley, Sasse was an assistant principal in the Wilson School District. Before making the switch to administration, he worked as an English teacher in both Wilson and Conestoga Valley School Districts. Additionally, he is an adjunct professor in the graduate education program at Cabrini College.
Sasse holds a bachelor’s degree from Albright College, a master’s degree from Wilkes University, and has completed administrative certifications at Cabrini College.
Throughout his tenure, Sasse has cultivated an array of experience at the high school level. In the earlier part of his teaching career, he spent time as a coach, student mentor, and class and club advisor. As an administrator, he made significant impact in expanding new learning strategies, using technology to enhance the classroom, staff development, and student advancement.
Dr. George Steinhoff, Penn-Delco Superintendent of Schools, stated, “I’m thrilled to have Mr. Sasse join our administrative team and lead the excellent staff at Sun Valley. Throughout the interview and selection process, Mr. Sasse demonstrated superior skills that we seek in a school leader. Mr. Sasse understands the importance of maintaining a great high school that can serve as the ‘flagship’ of the district. I believe his personable and professional character, deep knowledge of effective teaching and learning strategies, experience preparing students for success in college and careers, and most of all, his vision of an exemplary high school, will serve the Sun Valley school community well.”
The selection of Sasse as Sun Valley principal is the culmination of an extensive search process that began in August. Finalists were interviewed before a committee made up of Penn-Delco administrators, School Board President, SVHS PTL President and select Sun Valley staff. Subsequently, Sasse emerged as the Superintendent’s recommended candidate following the formal interview process, including a final meeting with the school board.
Looking forward to his new position, Sasse states, “I’m grateful to the Penn-Delco board of school directors and to Dr. Steinhoff for the opportunity to join such talented educators and students. I am excited to collaborate with our teachers and staff to continue to offer top academic, extracurricular, and community-based programs.”
