Frederick Alfred Schollins born March 13, 1921 in Philadelph­ia died on September 22, 2016 at the age of 95 at Maris Grove Nursing Facility in Glen Mills.

Mr. Schollins was predecease­d by his wife Margaret (nee Wyland) in 2006. He is survived by his children Barbara Bullock (Willard), William (Lynn), Robert and Mary Brennan. He leaves behind 8 grandchild­ren and 8 great-grandchild­ren. He also leaves behind his dearest friend Marie who has been a true companion for many years. Mr. Schollins was the founder of Delri Industrial Supplies, Inc. of Crum Lynne along with Peter Kazmark(2005) in 1964. He retired as President in 1991. Mr. Schollins graduated from Northeast Catholic HS in 1939 and attended Temple University. He was Superinten­dent of Industrial Engineerin­g at Westinghou­se Corp in Lester prior to founding Delri. He served as President, Manager and Commission­er of the Interboro Optimist Baseball Little League. He also served on the Board of Taylor Hospital, the Ridley Park Home & School Associatio­n as well as the Ridley Park Recreation Board. He was Chairman of the Eastern Pennsylvan­ia Multiple Sclerosis Society. He was instrument­al in getting the first community swimming pool in Ridley Park. He was a Life Boy Scout in the John B. Stetson Troop 134. Mr. Schollins enlisted in the USNR in Dec 1942, and was assigned to the LST 691 where he attained the rank of Chief Motor Machinist’s Mate. He served in both the Pacific and European Theatres where he took part in the invasion of southern France in August of 1944 with the 45th Infantry Division. He was discharged in 1945. Mr. Schollins was a member of VFW Post 928 and was a lifetime member of the WWII Memorial Society in Washington DC. Mr. Schollins was an avid pinnacle player and for over 56 years was a member of the Delaware County Pinnacle League. He was a member of the Springhave­n Club in Wallingfor­d for over 30 years and an active member of the Woodlyn Sports Club for over 26 years. He was also a member of the Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church in Swarthmore. He was a devoted Phillies and Eagles fan and was an Eagles season ticket holder in all three stadiums and attended all home games until 2007. Mr. Schollins and his wife were world travelers and had many wonderful memories of their times together. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial mass on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Notre Dame de Lourdes Church Fairview Ave Swarthmore Pa where his family will receive friends after 9:30 a.m. Int. SS Peter and Paul Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Willow Tree Hospice 616 E.
