Francis X. “Frank” Schmitt

Francis X. “Frank” Schmitt, 68, lifetime resident of Drexel Hill and member of St Andrew the Apostle, died Sept 23, 2016 at home. Frank was a graduate of Msgr. Bonner High School and attended Delaware County Community College. A member and former shop steward of Local 921 of the Painter’s Union, he enjoyed fishing and was active in the community. Frank was a Vietnam Veteran, proudly serving in the US Marine Corps. He was a member of the Marine Corps League and volunteered for the Toys for Tots Campaign. He also placed flags commemorating Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day. Frank will be remembered as someone committed to the community but especially as a loving Dad and Pop. He was the husband of Florence who died in 2001.

Father of Joanne (Michael) Mizerny and Mary Beth Schmitt; grandfather of Michael, Danielle and Connor Mizerny; also survived by his beloved companion, Margot Stamus, was the brother of Paul (Patricia), Dorothea (Robert Hazel), William (Jeanine), Vincent, Marlene, Raymond (Roseanne), MaryAnn (John Ganley), Edward (Sharon),Catherine, John (Erin), the late Michael, Joseph, Leo, Charles and Andrew. Funeral Service: will be11 am, Wed at the Toppitzer Funeral Home at Arlington, 2900 State Rd., Drexel Hill with Visitation 6-8 PM Tues evening.
