Joseph S. Barbine, age 87, of Collingdal­e, died suddenly on Tuesday, September 20, 2016.

Mr. Barbine was a resident of the Darby/Collingdal­e area for many years. He was a longtime member of Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Darby. He followed in the family business started by his father as owner-operator of the Mt. Zion Cemetery and Memorial Company in Collingdal­e.

A Korean War veteran, Mr. Barbine was a Life Member, Past President, and Past board member with 64 years of Service to Darby Fire Company #1. He was also a 26 year Life Member of Collingdal­e Fire Co. No. 1.

Joe enjoyed every moment spent fishing at the shore in Estell Manor, NJ, and hunting with his boys at the Barbine property in Tioga County, PA. An Eagles fan, he loved his Sunday football surrounded by family and friends. He always enjoyed the Friday evening card games at the firehouse with his circle of lifelong friends.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfathe­r, brother, and uncle, and will be truly missed by all who knew him.

Mr. Barbine was predecease­d by his beloved wife of 57 years, Lois (nee Cathcart), who passed February 13, 2015, and their son, Michael J. Barbine in 2001. He was also preceded in death by his parents, George and Josephine Barbine and his sisters, Virginia Smythe, Margaret Rispoli, Yolanda Strawley, and brother, George Barbine.

He is survived by his sons, Joseph G. (Connie) and George J. (Joanne) Barbine. He is also survived by his grandchild­ren, Joey, George, Marianne, and Jennifer; 10 great-grandchild­ren; and many nieces and nephews. We also must include his beloved and faithful dog, Reese.

Relatives, friends, and fellow firefighte­rs are invited to the Funeral Mass 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 1101 Main Street, Darby. There will be a Viewing 6-9 p.m. Tuesday evening and after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Marvil Funeral Home, 1110 Main Street, Darby.

Burial will follow Zion Cemetery.
