Big 2nd quarter lifts Temple

PHILADELPH­IA >> Phillip Walker threw two touchdown passes as Temple used a quick-strike offense in a 28-point second quarter to roll to a 48-20 win over Charlotte on Saturday.

Walker threw touchdown passes of 51 yards to Adonis Jennings and 40 yards to Brodrick Yancy to cap a pair of drives that combined for five plays and 125 yards.

Jahad Thomas scored on a 13-yard run one play after a turnover as the Owls raced to a 31-7 halftime lead.

Austin Jones kicked a pair of field goals for Temple (2-2), giving him 16 straight.

Kalif Phillips had 114 yards and a touchdown, on 16 carries for the 49ers (1-3). It was his 12th 100-yard game and the 66-yard TD was the fourth-longest scoring run in school history.

Walker finished 15 of 26 yards for Temple.

Thomas, who added a TD in the third quarter that made it 45-14, has 24 career touchdowns, fourth in Temple history. FORDHAM 31, PENN 17 >> Chase Edmonds ran for 152 yards, added 49 yards receiving, and scored four total touchdowns to help lead Fordham (2-1) to a win over Penn (0-2).

Kevin Anderson threw for 231 yards and one TD and Austin Longi added 92 yards receiving for the Rams).

Edmonds scored three times in the first half and Fordham opened up a 2410 lead at halftime.

Penn responded late in the third on an Alek Torgersen 2-yard plunge which cut the score to 24-17. The Quakers had an opportunit­y to tie it late but were turned away on downs at the Fordham 27-yard line.

Edmonds added his fourth score on the ensuing drive to put the game out of reach.

Torgersen had 125 yards passing for Penn.

Fordham has won three straight in the series and is now 25-2 at home since 2012, third best in FCS during that time frame. for 268
