Dougherty Brothers’ link is stronger than ever

Bonner & Prendergas­t just needed a little brotherly leadership Sunday.

Joe Dougherty and Rob Dougherty each shot matching 37s Sunday as the Friars topped Catholic League rival Cardinal O’Hara, 250278, at Bala Golf Club.

Corey McGrenera added a 41 for Bonner & Prendie (11-2, 9-2 Catholic League) to equal the score of Ryan Fitz, who led the Lions.

Bonner’s Dylan Williams carded a 42. O’Hara’s Ryan Calderaro added a 43.

Cross Country

Avery Lederer dominated the field in the boys varsity race to lead host Penncrest to the team title at the Penncrest Invitation­al Saturday.

Lederer covered the 5,000-meter course in 15 minutes, 57 seconds, 1:01 ahead of teammate Justin Senackerib, as the Lions took five of the top six places including the top five spots in the team competitio­n.

Adame Gramo-Penston, Connor Bonebrake and Christian Gallagher finished fourth through sixth, respective­ly, for Penncrest. Chester’s Lamaj Curry placed eighth overall, while Charlie Schaefer of Delco Christian was 10th.

Caitlin Jorgensen was the overall winner as Episcopal swept the top three places in the girls varsity race.

Jorgensen won in 19:42, followed in order by Ariana Feliziani and Jillian Rotman. Shannon Conlin placed 10th for the Churchwome­n. Maggie Linton of Delco Christian and Liz Egan of host Penncrest rounded out the top five. Paige Jacobs of Penncrest was ninth.
