Havertown drug awareness vigil set for Friday
HAVERFORD >> Havertown Alliance for Drug Awareness (HADA) holds its Hope Vigil, a candlelight, multifaith remembrance of those lost and to shine a light that people are here to help and listen, at 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at the corner of Darby and Golf roads. The vigil features remarks, prayers, and musical comfort, followed by a candlelight procession into the stadium for the Haverford High School football game. During this procession, a moment of silence is held to all everyone to reflect on how to help and support our friends and loved ones who may be losing hope.
The vigil is one of many future events to extend the hand of community to support those who need it. HADA was formed in 2016 to focus on the growing heroin and opioid problems that are being felt at the local level. HADA is an all-volunteer group comprised of both concerned residents and families who have been directly affected by the problem. Its goals are education, advocation and compassionate support for the township.
