Fords’ balanced effort too much for Phelps

Monday was share the wealth day for The Haverford School’s soccer team, as five players scored, three chipped in assists and a pair of goalies combined on a shutout in a 5-0 romp of Phelps School in a nonleague match.

Evan Scott, Will Micheletti, Dan Calvelli, Griffin Wada and Kyle Wagner etched their names on the score sheet while Alec Manko, Josh Ridenhour and Satch Baker were credited with assists. The Fords (3-4-2), who enjoyed a 24-4 advantage in shots on goal, saw Will Baltrus (three saves) and Bobby Stratts (one save) take turns in shutting down the Phelps attack.

Girls Soccer

Archbishop Carroll relied on the playmaking ability of Bella Sorrentino, who assisted on a pair of goals, enabling the Patriots to hold off Cardinal O’Hara, 2-1, Monday in an action-packed Catholic League match.

Lauren Nigro drove home a pass from Sorrentino to open the scoring in the first half and Paige Mastripoli­to cashed in another helper to give Carroll a 2-0 lead 10 minutes into the second half.

Lara Ramirez, Divonne Franklin, Morgan Rake and Molly McFadden came up big on defense in front of Claire Boylan and Grace Gallagher, who combined for four saves while taking turns in the net for the Pats (4-3 overall, 4-2 league).

Kerry Patterson stopped nine shots for the Lions, who pulled within one on Emily McGuire’s goal with 6 minutes to go and kept the pressure on.

In another League clash: CONWELL-EGAN 3, BONNER & PRENDERGAS­T 1 » Jewel Ford cashed in a feed from Erin Catholic Carty for the Pandas’ lone goal while goalie Kayla MacLaughli­n (10 saves) worked to keep the score respectabl­e.

In the Ches-Mont League: SUN VALLEY 4, COATESVILL­E 0» Veronica Roth connected on a penalty kick in the first half and Samantha Bowen produced a natural hat trick after intermissi­on, allowing the Vanguards (5-4, 2-4) to pull away. Amy Parker faced just one shot in posting the shutout, while midfielder­s McKenzie McGinnis, Madison Skwirut, Elisabeth Morgan and Olivia Lambert controlled play.

In nonleague action: CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 9, BAPTIST REGIONAL 0 » Lindsay Haseltine picked apart the defense to the tune of four goals and teammate Hannah Sareyka joined in the onslaught with a hat trick as the Crusaders improved to 5-1. UPPER DARBY 2, INTERBORO 0» The Royals received goals from Jaclyn Castell and Gabby Liberio while keeper Alyssa Hanrahan stopped two shots to keep the Bucs off the scoreboard.
