Carroll caps perfect slate the Wright way

Archbishop Carroll’s quest for a perfect regular season is complete.

All-Delco Hannah Wright smashed 17 kills as the Patriots rolled over Lansdale Catholic, 3-0, Thursday night to finish off an 18-0 regular season, including an 11-0 run through the Catholic League.

The Patriots will be the No. 1 seed in the PCL playoffs, which start next Tuesday.

Morgan Silk set the offense in motion with 26 assists. Paige Monastero had nine kills and Mary Kate Painter led the defense with 12 digs. BONNER & PRENDERGAS­T 3, NEUMANN-GORETTI 0 >> Maggie McPeak pounded 21 kills and four aces as the Pandas (11-6, 8-4) closed out the regular-season with a 24-11, 25-11, 25-18 victory.

Shannon Durkin (seven kills), Molly Ryan (six kills) and Danielle Davis (six kills) also contribute­d to the attack, while Caroline Goggin (13 digs) spearheade­d the defense.

In the Inter-Ac League: NOTRE DAME 3, AGNES IRWIN 0 >> One win is all that stands between Notre Dame and a clean sweep of the Inter-Ac.

Elise and Emma Butler along with Lexi Shreiner led the way as the Irish claimed their third league title in the last four years. Notre Dame (14-4, 7-0) closes out the regular season Tuesday at Baldwin.

Elise Butler collected 10 aces and four kills to help the Irish win all three games, 2514. Emma Butler had 10 assists and six aces, while Shreiner added five digs and three aces.

In the Central League: RIDLEY 3, UPPER DARBY 0 >> Jackie Kelly collected 10 digs, eight kills and five aces as the Green Raiders closed out the league season with a 25-23, 25-17, 25-22 victory. Bridget Durante (22 digs) and Maria Brown (four blocks) were strong

Quinn Maguire scored the first four goals and assisted on the fifth tally as the Irish rolled over Agnes Irwin, 9-0.

In six Inter-Ac League games Notre Dame (12-2-1, 6-0) has outscored the opposition, 45-8, and 59-14 in its last six games. Mary Kate Neff added one goal and two assists. Sara Jane Quigley had one goal and one assist to help the Irish extend their unbeaten streak to 12 games.

In nonleague action: DELCO CHRISTIAN 2, MARPLE NEWTOWN 0 >> Ava Berzinsky converted a pass from Emily Carroll for a goal in the first half and then fed Alyssa Maldonado for an insurance tally in the second half. Ana Yee posted the shutout with two saves.

Anna saves in is on quite an DeCecco made 10 goal for the Tigers. SPRINGFIEL­D 2, INTERBORO 1 >> Michaela Travers scored twice, including the winner on a rebound off a shot by Ashlynn Skuitra.

Bri Mathis converted a pass from Sophia Harley to give the Bucs a 1-0 lead, but Travers found the back of the cage with 3:36 left in regulation to send the game into overtime. Interboro goalie Moriah Marr made two outstandin­g saves before Travers put home the winner.

Girls Tennis

Country Day School of the Sacred Heart’s Marcella Marino and Emily Robinson lost in the semifinal round of the District One Class 2A doubles tournament.

Marino and Robinson earned two wins Thursday at the Healthplex in Springfiel­d, including a 6-4, 6-2 decision over Lower Moreland’s Sofie Arno and Rebecca Belenky in the quarterfin­als. The Lions’ top doubles team fell in the semis to Lower Moreland’s Elizabeth Berzin and Gabby Zaydenberg, 6-0, 6-1.

In the Class 3A tournament, both Academy Park’s Vicky Outland and Breanna Reid and Penn Wood’s Edna Bonsu and Ixchelle Ortiz were unable to advance beyond the opening round.

In the Inter-Ac League: PENN CHARTER 5, NOTRE DAME 2>> The doubles pairings of Grace Leasure and Natalie Hughes, and Sarah Crinnion and Mackenzie Irvine earned victories for the Irish, who finished the season with a 9-4 overall record (2-4 Inter-Ac). BARRACK HEBREW FALLS SHORT >> The Jack M. Barrack Hebrew claimed second place behind winning Perkiomen School in the Tri-County Independen­t School League championsh­ip round.

The Cougars dropped a 5-0 decision. Talia Raikin, Dori Hoffman-Filler and Janie Hershman all competed in singles action for Barrack Hebrew.
