Busy weekend in Delco; Bingo to the Philly Orchestra
CHESTER » Widener University hosts the first of three concerts as part of the Widener University Recital Series in Kapelski Recital Hall, E. 14th and Walnut streets, at 3 p.m. Sunday. Admission to the concert series is free and open to the public.
Sunday’s performance features The Philadelphia Orchestra Percussion Group, with a program of four pieces from their album “Zones,” including works by Boston Symphony famed percussionist, Tom Gauger; sixtime Tony Award recipient, Rolando Morales-Matos; and Grammy-award winner and composer of the album’s featured work “Zones,” Jennifer Higdon. In addition, POPG will perform a piece written by member Don Luizzi.
The performance involves an array of musical styles ranging from “classical” orchestra to a Saturday night bongo jam in San Juan with percussion instruments including marimbas, chimes, tom-toms, Korean drums, bongos and more.
Upcoming performances in the Recital Series include the Relache Ensemble on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2017, and a jazz performance by Widener University Artist in Residence John Vanore, along with his musical group Abstract Truth, on Sunday, March 19, 2017. Both of these performances also take place at 3 p.m. in the Kapelski Recital Hall.

Play Bingo in Propspect Park
PROSPECT PARK » The Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Prospect Park Fire Co. holds a special Bingo from 1-4 p.m. today, Oct. 22, at the firehouse, 10th and Lincoln avenues. Admission is $1 which includes door prizes. Cards are three for 25 cents. Refreshments are available for sale.

Crozer-Keystone provides lung cancer info
Crozer-Keystone Health System holds events in November to raise awareness and provide education about lung cancer and how it can be prevented and treated. Upcoming events:
• 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Nov. 3, a “Who, What, When & Why’s of Lung Cancer Screenings” information table is at Rocky Run YMCA, 1299 W. Baltimore Pike, Media, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Nov. 3.
• Lung Cancer Awareness Month Kick Off with information tables on the importance of lung cancer screenings at Crozer-Chester Medical Center cafeteria; Delaware County Memorial Hospital ccafeteria; and Crozer-Keystone Regional Cancer Center at Broomall main entrance, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Nov. 4. Free soft pretzels and gifts are available.
• An information table on “Who, What, When & Why’s of Lung Cancer Screenings” from noon-2 p.m. Nov. 9 at GIANT Food Store, 721 W. Sproul Road, Springfield
• An educational program on “Who, What, When & Why’s of Lung Cancer Screenings” at Crozer-Keystone Regional Cancer Center at Brinton Lake, 500 Evergreen Drive, Glen Mills Nov. 10. Registration and light refreshments are at 5:30 p.m., followed by a program on the importance of lung cancer screenings and how the lung cancer screening program at Crozer-Keystone is saving lives at 6.
• An educational program on “Who, What, When & Why’s of Lung Cancer Screenings” at noon Nov. 15 at Haverford Township Free Library, 1601 Darby Road, Havertown.
