Richard F. “Richie” Whalen

Richard F. “Richie” Whalen, 78, died February 22, 2017 at his residence in Lansdowne.

Born and raised in Mahanoy City, PA, he had lived the past 46 years in Lansdowne. He was a graduate of Mahanoy City High School and had done office and factory work for A&P, Oscar Mayer & BJ’s in Springfield, PA

Rich was a member of the Knights of Columbus, De La Salle Council. He loved all things Philadelphia, especially the Phillies and Eagles.

Richie is survived by his beloved wife Betty (nee Friel) Whalen and devoted son Richard H. (Lee Anne) Whalen, his uncle Frank Lewis and brothers Joseph (Sandy) Whalen and Francis (Madeline) Whalen.

Family and Friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Monday at 10:30 AM at St. Philomena Church, Baltimore and Highland Aves., Lansdowne and viewing from 9-10:15 AM in the Church.

Interment: SS Paul Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Philomena Church, 41 E. Baltimore Ave., Lansdowne, PA 19050 would be greatly appreciated.
