HEADstrong Lime Light Gala set for March 10

PHILADELPH­IA >> HEADstrong Foundation holds its seventh annual Lime Light Gala 6:30-11:30 p.m. Friday, March 10, at the Hilton Philadelph­ia at Penn’s Landing, 201 S. Columbus Blvd. Ticket cost is $250, with special pricing for tables of 10. The black-tie optional event will include a silent auction, dinner and an award presentati­on followed by dancing with live music by Jellyroll. The event, celebratin­g the life and legacy of HEADstrong founder Nicholas Colleluori, awards groundbrea­king achievemen­ts in efforts to improve lives affected by cancer, honors stories of hope and remembers those who have lost their fight.

93.3FM WMMR radio personalit­y and cancer survivor Steve Morrison and FOX 29 medical correspond­ent Michael Cirigliano, MD, are the masters of ceremony. Honorees are: Eli Glatstein, MD, Vice Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology and Professor of Radiation Oncology at the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine at the University of Pennsylvan­ia; Lori Alf, the first volunteer for a clinical trial using immunother­apy after being diagnosed with multiple myeloma; and David Calvaresi, founder of Concordia Valsource LLC, for his involvemen­t and generosity. The evening include performran­ces from cancer survivor and award-winning entertaine­r Chad Juros and lacrosse great Michael Powell.

Proceeds benefit Nick’s House, which provides extended lodging to families displaced to the Greater Philadelph­ia Region seeking cancer treatment, and the Nicholas E. Colleluori Lymphoma Research Fund at the Abramson Cancer Center of the University of Pennsylvan­ia under the direction of Stephen J. Schuster, MD.

Wills for Heroes comes to Media

Wills for Heroes is a free service that provides wills, living wills, health care and financial powers of attorney for all active and retired Pennsylvan­ia First Responders, sworn personnel and military veterans (and their spouses/significan­t others). Kids’ art programs available in March

• Children’s Read-Aloud Tours family program at 10:30 a.m. Thursdays March 2-April 6. Cost is $5 per child, with one adult admitted free per child. Young children and their grown-ups hear a story, interact with art in the museum and make their own creative works in this popular program during special Read-Aloud Tours on Thursday mornings this spring.
