Learn history of Sun Ship March 21 in Springfield
SPRINGFIELD >> Springfield Historical Society sponsors a free public program, “History of the Sun Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Company,” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, at the Springfield Township Building, 50 Powell Road.
Dave Kavanagh, president of the Sun Ship Historical Society, traces the history of Sun Ship from its inception in 1916 through its aquisition in 1982. Highlights include the pioneering role Sun Ship took shipbuilding design, the impressive role it played in the production of ships during World War I and World War II, a few world class projects undertaken by Sun Ship and the link between Sun Oil and Sun Ship. Refreshments are served at the end of the program.

Hear redistricting activist March 30
LOWER MERION >> Bryn Mawr College welcomes Carol Kuniholm from Fair Districts PA for “Redistricting & Representation: How to Serve Pennsylvania’s Gerrymandering Problem” at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 30 in the McPerson Auditorium. Gerrymandering is the practice of dividing a geographic area into representative districts in a way that gives unfair political advantage to one party or group in an election. After an informational presentation, there is a questionand-answer period, as well as time to meet with Fair Districts PA volunteers to learn more about the organization.
Carol Kuniholm is chair and co-founder of Fair Districts PA (FDPA) and board member responsible for election reform issues for the League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania. FDPA is a nonpartisan, statewide coalition of individuals and organizations working to ensure Pennsylvania’s redistricting process is transparent, impartial and fair.

Enter art now for Swarthmore show
SWARTHMORE >> Swarthmore Friends of the Arts invites artists 18-years-old or older who reside in the Wallingford-Swarthmore School District (including Swarthmore College students) to participate in the 21st annual Swarthmore Artists Exhibition, held at Swarthmore Borough Hall May 10-26. Completed entry forms are due by Monday, May 1. The delivery date for work to be exhibited is Monday, May 8 from 5-7 p.m.
One or two pieces of original work, in any medium except for photography (which will be the subject of a separate show in October), which have not previously been exhibited at borough hall, may be submitted. Reproductions of original artwork are not accepted. Work intended for hanging must be framed or matted and wired for hanging. Work that is not designed to hang on a wall will be included in the exhibit only if it can be safely displayed within the available exhibit space.
A $5 contribution per piece is requested. Mail cash or check made payable to Swarthmore Friends of the Arts with entry form, or if registering online bring payment when delievering the artwork.
