Police are trying to determie if body is missing Marcus Hook woman
CALN >> Police don’t suspect a crime after human skeletal remains were found on Friday afternoon, investigators said.
Caln police said on Monday that the remains were found about 20 to 30 feet from roadway in the 1500 block of Fisherville Road, near the Brandywine Hospital entrance in Caln, by a person walking by. Police and the Chester County Coroner’s office were on scene throughout the afternoon to recover the remains.
Police said in a news release that at this point, a determination on the possible identification on the remains cannot be made. Police added that no determination on the cause and time of death has been made at this time.
Police are investigating further to determine if the remains belong to a Delaware County woman who went missing last year in Chester County. Police said that in their investigation, they are seeking to determine if the incidents are related. However, police said the remains have not been identified as the missing person.
Digital First Media previously reported that Barbara Keenan, 52, of Marcus Hook, Delaware County, was last seen in Caln when she was discharged from Brandywine Hospital on July 9, 2016. Police said that Keenan has not been seen or heard from since then.
Caln police said Keenan suffered from medical conditions which require her to take medication daily. According to her description provided by police, Keenan stands and walks with a lean to the right side; she is missing a top tooth that is noticeable when she smiles; she is 5-foot 2-inches tall with a medium build; she has dark hair with red highlights, and she often styles her hair in a braided ponytail down her back.
Keenan lived in the 1000 block of Market Street in Marcus Hook, according to police.
