NO FREE FOR ALL

There are a lot of people out there that talk about Medicare like it’s free. It’s not free. They deduct it out your paycheck. I would know since I’ve been working since I was 16 and paid into the system. It’s not free.

WOE IS US

The other night I had several of my friends over for dinner. We were all brought up around the same time. We were called children of the Depression. We got to talking about how different things are today and how disgustingly spoiled and pampered young people are brought up today. It reminded me of a story that was in the Times not long allow where parents went to the school board about starting school later so their children could get more sleep. There’s a solution to that problem: Go to bed earlier. We are bringing up a group of kids who don’t know what it is assume responsibility and feel they have to have things their way all the time. Can you imagine when they have to go out into the world?

MAGA GAGA

Thanks to Thomas Stackhouse for his letter to the editor commenting on Jodine Mayberry’s column. I agree that referring to our current duly-elected U.S. President Donald J. Trump’s administration as a “regime” is beyond offensive. Our current president deserves the same respect as every president who sat in the Oval Office. He is a patriot and will Make American Great Again. When Jodine Mayberry’s name appears as the author of an article, I turn the page. I find nothing intellectually stimulating, only angry remarks. It reflects poorly on the judgment of this paper allowing her to rant alt-left propaganda. IMMORAL TIMES

RIP CHUCK

I’m surprised I didn’t see anything in Sound Off about Chuck Berry’s passing a couple weeks back, especially here in the land of Bill Haley and Charlie Gracie. He was a true American original. I can’t think of another person who single-handedly made such an impact on pop music – songwriting, guitar playing, stage performance. Not taking away from anyone else, but Chuck was the original total package in American popular music. RIP, and “hail, hail rock ‘n’ roll.” J.B. GOODE FROM LOUISIANA

ROTTEN TIMES

This is it! Isn’t it bad enough to have to navigate the Delco Times errors, usage, word choice and mistranscribed Sound Off calls? Now we have dimwitted observations in the Darts and Laurels column. The entry laments that Villanova has been eliminated in the past in an early round and last year did win the national championship. The implication that this year is a failure is so ill-informed that it’s incredible. A school with 35 wins, a conference championship and hoping to win their second national championship in a row is pretty impressive, and hardly can be improved upon. DELCO DAD

NEVER AGAIN

To “Bob From Sharon Hill” and “Cut That Check,” after I read about WHYY CEO Bill Mazzarro’s salary and deferred compensation package of over $580,000, I will never again write a check to PBS. They can start by reducing his salary and then maybe we won’t have the pay. CUTTING OFF THAT CHECK

DO YOUR JOB

Let’s pretend both political parties want to do what is best for America – get together and get rid of the bad parts of the Obamacare and keep the good parts of Obamacare. Is that too much to ask of our representatives? JUST WONDERING DAN

WASTE OF A WALL

I think this border wall is a waste of money no matter who eventually pays for it. Why not use the money to hire more border guards and the equipment they will need to do their job? That would be money well spent and put people to work. That sounds like a better way to make American great again to me.

SEE YA, CHUCKIE

To “Hit The Road,” besides Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer should be next to go. Go home, collect your Social Security, and leave Trump alone. Let him get his cabinet together and get a Supreme Court justice on the bench. ONE WHO KNOWS
