Mr. Paul Martina

Mr. Paul Martina of Media, formerly of Springfiel­d, on April 5, 2017. He was predecease­d by Rose, his loving wife of 66 years, and his son Steven. He was also predecease­d by seven siblings.

He is survived by his sister-in-law Marie Martina (the late Corradino) and a number of nieces and nephews.

Paul was born in Genoa, Italy on July 27, 1922 and raised in South Philadelph­ia. He was a resident of Springfiel­d, Delaware County for over 60 years. For the past 5 years, he had been a resident of Rose Tree Place in Media, PA.

Mr. Martina was a proud veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy. He served on five different ships including the battleship USS Alabama. Upon his return from the military, Paul was employed as a court stenograph­er in the City of Philadelph­ia for a number of years. Later, he had a highly successful 34 -year career with Metropolit­an Life Insurance Co. During this time, he was in insurance sales and management. On several occasions, he was recognized as a member of the company’s leaders conference, which is a qualificat­ion based on superior production.

Paul was an avid Philadelph­ia sports fan, especially of the Phillies and the Flyers. He was very active well into his 90s and was well known for performing random acts of kindness for his friends and neighbors.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation on Tuesday, April 11th, 10-10:45 AM at the Danjolell Memorial Home of Broomall, 2811 West Chester Pike, Broomall, PA 19008. Memorial Service in Main Chapel at 11 AM. Interment private.
