Radnor’s Smith, Puckette pour it on to top Haverford

Neither the rain nor Haverford’s defense could slow down Radnor’s Hope Smith and Julianne Puckette Thursday afternoon.

The duo combined for seven goals and two assists to pace the Raiders to an 11-8 victory over the Fords in Central League girls lacrosse.

Smith led the offense with four goals and one assist. Puckette added three goals, one assist and two draw controls. Ellie Mueller pitched in with two goals, while Nicole Massimino handed out three assists.

Lydia Hetznecker, Nora Janzer and Laura Winters paced Haverford with two goals each. STRATH HAVEN 19, UPPER DARBY 0 >> Goalie Katie Capalbo made seven saves to post the shutout. Margot Hotham’s four goals led an offense in which 11 players scored. Sophie Haase added three goals, and Mandy Ruffini, Abby Lombard and Olivia Memeger pitched in with two goals each. CONESTOGA 18, MARPLE NEWTOWN 5 >> Scottie Growney, Amelia Kienzie, Cameron Evitts and Julia Littlewood combined for 13 goals. Growney led the way with four scores. Kienzie, Evitts and Littlewood added three goals apiece.

Kristen Rutecki and Paige Kostack scored two goals apiece for the Tigers.

Boys Volleyball

The ending was a lot better for Glen Mills than the beginning.

The Bulls won the last three games to rally for a 3-2 Independen­t League victory over Lower Merion.

The Aces won the first two games, 25-22 and 25-21. Glen Mills stormed back to win 25-21, 25-19, 15-13.
