100 Years Ago – 1917: Thirteen Delaware County milk dealers and drivers of milk wagon routes accused of violating the pure food laws pertaining to milk and cream were served warrants. The crusade against the milk dealers started in early March. State chemists have discovered, it is said, that only a few dealers in Delaware County are selling milk and cream of gilt-edge quality.

75 Years Ago – 1942:

Representatives from the Chester Reporter who made recent calls for the Records for Rookies campaign got a phonograph and a number of records because they got on the wrong street in Linwood. Their list showed a call to be made at No. 4 Johnson Ave. “This isn’t Johnson Avenue,” they were told at the door, “This is Taylor Avenue. But we have a phonograph and records which we no longer use and would be glad to give them to the Chester Reporter’s drive.”

25 Years Ago – 1992: John Innelli is a Democratic candidate for the 7th Congressional District seat this year – not. According to the Federal Elections Commission, that is. FEC spokesman Fred Eiland said Innelli, who carries the endorsement of the Delaware County Democratic Committee, has never filled a statement of candidacy with the agency. Any candidate who raises or spends more than $5,000 is required to file a statement, Eiland said, or he is in violation of federal election law and could be investigated by the FEC.

10 Years Ago – 2007: It wasn’t the mangled Dodge Charger or the open casket so much that impressed Lydell Baynard, but a simulated drunken driving session made the point loud and clear. “It’s not as easy as you think it is,” said Baynard about driving impaired. The simulation, the demolished car and the casket were all a part of Delaware County Community College’s “DUI Project Arrive Alive.” Students in a Teamwork course came up with the topic, raised money and organized the event to inform students about the effects of drunken driving.
