TCF banquet recognizes students and philanthropists
NETHER PROVIDENCE >> Taylor Community Foundation (TCF) hold its 16th annual Recognition Reception and award $112,000 in college scholarships to sixteen local high school seniors from the class of 2017 at the Springhaven Club on April 26.
Annually, TCF recognizes members of the community who exemplify the core values of TCF with three special awards. Extraordinary Philanthropist of the Year is presented this year to Alliance Cancer Specialists. Delaware County Community Foundation is recognized as TCF Extraordinary Organization of the Year. Additionally, TCF presents Play for the A’s, a program by Strath Haven High School Boys Lacrosse Team, with the Community Impact Award. This award recognizes the commitment of Play for the A’s to supporting the battle against Alzheimer’s Disease, which they do by providing both funds and support services to local families affected by the disease.
Primary sponsors of the event include PNC Bank, Alliance Cancer Specialists, TD Bank, Tycor Benefit Administrators, Joe Martin Landscaping, and Merves Amon Barsz, LLC. Additionally, the Wilbur C. and Betty Lea Henderson Foundation sponsor all four of the TCF Scholars who plan to enter the field of nursing.
TCF President, Kurt Slenn, shared “Students who receive TCF Scholarships are passionate, hardworking and eager to give back to their communities. Since the inception of the TCF Allied Health Scholarship in 2002, Taylor Community Foundation has awarded more than $2,082,000 in funding in support of nearly 240 scholarships. By investing in our future health workforce, Taylor Community Foundation hopes to help make the communities of Delaware County a healthier location for all of our neighbors. We are so very grateful to all of the donors who help turn these young dreams into realities.”
