Lew S. Lemon, Jr., 81, of Essington, passed away peacefully at Taylor Hospital Hospice on Saturday, April 15, 2017. He was born on November 23, 1935, in Olean, NY, to the late Lew S. & Olive (Keim) Lemon.

Lew was raised in Olean, NY and was a 1953 graduate of Allegany High School, Allegany, NY. He worked for many years as a truck driver for a couple different trucking companies before retiring.

After retiring, Lew was a popular figure known around Essington for riding one of his trikes and for creating a side business (Lew’s Lanyards) from his hobby of making lanyards, bracelets and keychains out of paracord. Lew also worked parttime as a turnkey for The Tinicum Township Police Dept. He enjoyed watching the Phillies and the Flyers and attending gun shows.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Donald, Harry, James, Douglas, Alfred, Ada, Jane, Marie, and Eunice.

Lew is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mildred (Custer) Lemon; sons Jordan (Jane) and Scott (Robin); stepchildr­en Michelle (Russ) Convery, Robert (Kelly) Bruton, and Samantha (Mike) Devers; 13 grandchild­ren and 6 great-grandchild­ren. He is also survived by his brother John, many other family members and friends.

Family and friends are invited to his visitation on Saturday, April 29, 2017, from 9:30-11 AM at the Cavanagh Family Funeral Home, 301 Chester Pike, Norwood. A memorial service will immediatel­y follow at 11 AM. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributi­ons can be made to Project S.H.A.R.E. at County Savings and Loan, 10 Powhattan Avenue, Essington, PA 19029. Checks should be made payable to “Seana Cancer Fund.”
