THEY HAVE YOUR PURSE

If the person who lost her purse at the MacDade Mall on April 24 around 2:30 is still searching, after you left it in the basket at the Dollar Store I turned it into the management there. You can pick it up there.

THE GOOD OLD DAYS

Phil Heron had an excellent column this week. There are a lot of us oldsters out here that do not do all that Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. I made it a whole lot of years without a cell phone and now it’s like a ball and chain attached to my hip that I detest. I like reading the Delaware County Daily Times, but I knew Mr. Heron’s wisdom came from somewhere besides Delaware County. I’m a country boy, too. I came from Reading and I, too, worked summers in the corner soda fountain for Uncle Herb and delivered groceries to his customers. It’s is shame how this county and how times have changed since we grew up, but there are still a lot of readers who enjoy this paper landing in the driveway every morning.

A WORKING DISGRACE

I can’t believe the minimum wage in this country is $7.25 an hour. It’s a disgrace and it’s been a disgrace. How can anybody live on that, with prices going up? It should be $15-$20 an hour. Why don’t the politicians live on $7.25 an hour? People should be marching on Washington and protesting this.

BOMBING OUT

The last two days and the Times have been wonderful with showing the Hi-Q kids and the Excellence in Teaching award winners. This is wonderful stuff, but right-wingers would rather have us not spend money on education and spent all our money building bombs instead.

SOME LOUSY REFORM

Trump is missing the point on tax reform. We can’t have tax reform like that where everybody can do their income tax on the postcard size piece of paper, because we have an entire infrastructure set up with accountants and tax service companies such up. Everybody uses them. If we go to tax reform and everybody does everything on a postage size piece of paper, we’re going to lose a lot of jobs.

WAHHH, WAHHH DONNY

Since its inception, Donald Trump is the only president to not attend the Washington Press Club dinner. It’s because he he’s a thin-skinned crybaby and has absolutely no sense of humor. That’s not presidential in the least.

DON’T BLAME THE INNOCENT

I read the letter to the editor from the Rev. Bernice Warren of Heeding God’s Call to End Gun Violence. Well, ending gun violence sounds like a worthy cause. However, her letter says to hold gun sellers responsible for store purchases. Using her logic, we should car dealerships responsible for automobile accidents. Why not hold pool dealers responsible for backyard drownings? The logic doesn’t add up. It’s time for people to start taking responsibility for their actions.

100 DAYS OF FAILURE

You would think after 100 days, Donald Trump would try to unite the country behind them but he is not. He is more divisive than ever. And now he wants to fight a war with North Korea and Iran at the same time? There’s going to be a civil war. Is that what people like “Mr. Tom In Linwood” wants? Because from his comments and these other Trump supporters in Sound Off, it sounds like that’s what they want.

SPACE IN HIS HEAD

Donald, if you want to pay for a border wall, stop looking for E.T. and use all that federal money wasted on space exploration to pay for it. JEANETTE G.

WHO’S STUPID?

Well here we go again: “The Truth Hurts” says that because we didn’t support Obama but we do support Trump, we’re stupid. Doesn’t anybody get tired of being told that they’re stupid for supporting the candidate of their choice? I don’t hear people calling people stupid for supporting Obama. I think that maybe Obama was stupid, but I wouldn’t call anybody stupid for supporting him. It’s called a choice. YUP
