Fritz Robert Bruner
Fritz R. Bruner, 86, a longtime resident of Essington, formerly of Prospect Park and Ridley Township, died peacefully on April 19, 2017. Born February 2, 1931 in Chester, Pa., he resided in Essington for 30 years.
A Korean War Veteran, Fritz was a self-employed home improvement contractor. He worked in the industry for over 50 years. A life-long member of St. James Episcopal Church in Prospect Park, he served three terms on the Vestry and was active in church and community events. An avid Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies sports and car racing fan, the highlight of his life was racing his ‘32 Ford Roadster cross-country in the Great American Car Race in 1987. His roadster was always a “fan favorite” in Prospect Park’s Annual 4th of July Parade. Fritz was the son of the late E. Fritz and Frances Rees Bruner. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his aunt and uncle, Adelaide and Bartholomew Rees, ex-wife, Wenonah Bruner McNichol, former companion, Sandra McNulty, brother-in-law, Albert Hufnal, and a son, F. Richard Bruner.
Survivors: His loving companion of 30 years, Suzanne Albert of Essington, Pa.; sister Anne Elizabeth Hufnal of Wildwood, N.J.; daughter Debra Bruner (Greg) Grillone of Norwood, Pa.; daughter Donna (Lewis) LaBar of Stroudsburg, Pa.; son Daniel (Megan) Bruner of Media, Pa.; daughter-in-law Shirley Bruner of Folsom, Pa.; extended family members, Tanya McKeith of Holmes, Pa.; Jon (Aimee) Albert of Eddystone, Pa.; Kandis McNulty of Media, Pa.; MaryBeth (Rich) Plummer of West Grove, Pa.; 13 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service: Will be held on Monday, May 8th, at 11 A.M. at St. James Episcopal Church, 732 11th Avenue, Prospect Park, Pa. 19076.
Visitation: Will be from 9:30 A.M. to 11 A.M. Monday at the church. Burial: Private. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. James Episcopal Church at the above address would be appreciated.
