Diane SchaeferSp­ay, 55, passed away on April 28, 2017. Diane was born to Sarah Jane and George Schaefer at Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital on March 8, 1962. She was a beautiful child with a quick and contagious smile. She had frizzy blond hair which earned the nick name Dr. Zorba from the old Ben Casey TV series. Her Pop Pop called her Pinky. She lived on Kenwood Road in Drexel Hill in her early years before moving to Springfiel­d Delco. Most of her early memories were made at our home on West Avenue. She enjoyed swimming and loved to be poolside in the backyard. Diane attended Holy Cross grade school and then Cardinal O’Hara High School. In a school of over four thousand students, she excelled in sports and was the starting center on O’Hara’s basketball team. In her senior year she was the Homecoming Queen. She loved rock music, dancing and shooting hoops in the driveway with her sister and brother. Diane attended Penn State’s College branch in Broomall and then entered the world of modeling and was featured in many advertisin­g campaigns. She was an office manager in Philadelph­ia, and a realtor in New Jersey. She was dedicated to her son Dean and husband Ron. Diane and Ron loved traveling. Although she had many close friends, she was extremely close to and protective of her family. She will be sadly missed by her husband, son, parents, brother and sister, and all her five nieces.

Diane is survived by her loving husband, Ronald Spay, Sr. and son, Dean Spay. Her parents, George and Sarah Jane (nee: Paulson) Schaefer, brother, George (Jennifer) Schaefer, sister, Linda (Larry) Schwartz, Aunt, Semiramis (Frank) Novak, Brother-inLaw, Anthony (Barbara) Spay and Sister-in-Law, Joan (Dean) Rentzos.

Relatives and Friends are invited to her Funeral Mass Wednesday, May 3, 2017 11:30am and to her Visitation, after 10:30am, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 236 East Main St. Maple Shade, NJ 08052.
