Abreu and Jason Black responded to Eighth and Fulton streets about 12:10 a.m. Tuesday. There, they met a woman who requested assistance to remove her belongings from a house in the 300 block of West Eighth Street.

“Police escort her. She gets her belongings and leaves. Everybody is fine,” Nolan said.

Abreu and Black were back on patrol and in the area of Ninth and Barclay streets when, at 12:37 a.m., they heard shots fired.

“They go to investigate the shots. The see a car is reversing on Ninth Street, in the 400 block,” Nolan said. “They stop the car and the driver is the same woman from the domestic call … She told them she got shot at and they begin to investigate.”

Nolan said the officers stopped two men, both of whom displayed physical injuries. One of the men is the woman’s ex-boyfriend.

“Their story is (the woman) ran them over … and then they shot at her,” he said.

As the officers were speaking to the two men, Nolan said, the woman left the area.

Both men were taken by EMS to Crozer-Chester Medical Center. Nolan said their injuries appeared to be minor, but he had no updated information on their conditions.

According to Nolan, the men told police they were going to the store to buy cigarettes when the woman allegedly tried to run them over. A firearm was confiscated from one of the men as part of the investigation.

Among the evidence at the scene were skid marks and shell casings, “but what came first, is part of the investigation,” Nolan said.

“We have everybody’s information. We confiscated the gun and it depends on the investigation whether it goes back … He may be the victim,” Nolan said. “It’s a sticky situation and there is no reason to rush it.”
