Kathleen Rose (Chamberlai­n) Ferrante, 86, of Chester, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Kathleen was born and raised in Chester and attended Chester schools.

Kathleen, our Irish-English rose, was a beautiful woman whose main focus in life was the happiness of her husband and children. She was married to the late Nicholas L. Ferrante for 63 years. They were always together and loved each other dearly. Cass and Nick often took care of and watched over her maternal nieces and nephews while raising their own family of 5 children.

Kathleen was employed as a clerk in the finance department of Crozer-Chester Medical Center for 25 years before her retirement. When her sons played sports, she acted as secretary and president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Chester East Little League Baseball team. Kathleen was also a volunteer for the Chester Biddy League Basketball team. A member of the St. Robert’s Church Choir in the 1970’s, she was also choir secretary.

Kathleen was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Shellhamer and Edward Chamberlai­n and sister of the late Elizabeth Perkins.

Survivors: Her thankful children: Linda Elverson (Gary), Nicholas, Christine Downey (Michael), Charles (Christine), and Joseph; a beloved niece whom she and Nicholas raised for many years: Theresa Gorman (Thomas); her grateful grandchild­ren: Caitlin Elverson, Christophe­r, Matthew, and Allison Ferrante; a special grandniece: Kathleen Aguilar (Daniel); greatgrand­nephew: Thomas Aguilar; siblings: Edward Chamberlai­n and Robert Shellhamer; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and inlaws.

Visitation: Saturday from 9:15 - 10:15 am at St. Katharine Drexel Church, 1920 Providence Ave., Chester, PA. Funeral Mass: Saturday at 10:30 am at St. Katharine Drexel Church. Burial: Ss. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfiel­d.
