Sharon Hill’s McBride steals the spotlight for Hallahan

Maddy McBride was bringing the heat Tuesday.

Hallahan’s junior ace — and Sharon Hill resident — fanned 16 batters in a dominant performanc­e against the Catholic League’s top softball squad. McBride allowed only one hit and walked none in leading Hallahan to a 2-0 victory over previously unbeaten Archbishop Wood.

If her pitching wasn’t enough for Wood to handle, McBride also got it done with the bat. She slugged a two-run triple for the only scoring of the afternoon.

Elsewhere in the Catholic League: CARDINAL O’HARA 5, CONWELL-EGAN 4 >> The Lions (8-3 league) erased a 4-0 deficit with five runs in the bottom of the sixth. Allison Ahern was a home run shy of the cycle, going 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Emily Loomis added two hits and a pair of RBIs, while Alexia Galli was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Jenna Smith struck out 11 and yielded no walks for the win. ARCHBISHOP CARROLL 16, WEST CATHOLIC 0 >> Mary Clare Boyle pitched a onehitter as the Patriots routed the Burrs.

Jess Redding led off the game with a homer. Maggie Delaney and Maggie Sweeney played strong defensivel­y for Carroll. ST. HUBERT 5, BONNER & PRENDERGAS­T 4 >> St. Hubert scored two unearned runs in the bottom of the seventh to stun the Pandas (12-5, 7-4). Kelsey Czibik singled, doubled and drove in three runs. Meghan Sullivan added an RBI single.

In the Bicentenni­al League: CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 17, LOWER MORELAND 10 >> Lindsay Haseltine, Carly Ryle and Dejah Burley-Chambers provided the thump in the TCA lineup. Haseltine went 3-for-5 with a threerun triple and a home run, Ryle went 4-for-5 with a triple, and Burley-Chambers roped two doubles and knocked in three runs for the Crusaders (6-7). DOCK MENNONITE 14, DELCO CHRISTIAN 4 >> Ronnie Falasco blasted a solo homer and was 2-for-3 on the afternoon for the Knights (7-9, 4-9).

In the Inter-Ac League: SPRINGSIDE CHESTNUT HILL 2, EPISCOPAL ACADEMY 1 >> The Churchwome­n fell in eight innings. Belle Volatile pitched well in defeat and Maddie Loughead had an RBI hit.

In nonleague action: INTERBORO 12, HARRITON 0 >> Amber Seamen was 2-for-2 with four RBIs, two runs scored and a pair of walks for the Bucs (12-3). Barb Carosi laced a two-run double and Emily Gavin went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Bridget Bailey pitched a four-hit shutout with six punchouts.

Girls Track

Junior Emma Seifried and freshman Kayleigh Doyle dominated the distance events to lead Sacred Heart at the Catholic Academies League championsh­ip meet.

Seifried and Doyle went 1-2 in the 1,600-meter run. Seifried won the event for the second straight year in 5 minutes, 20.57 seconds. Doyle finished in 5:20.62. The duo reversed spots in the 3,200 with Doyle claiming her first league title in 11:48.59 and Seifried taking second in 11:49.15.

Girls Golf

Kaitlyn Lees took low score honors, and sophomore Maura Boyle and freshman Olivia Weise both shot career lows as Agnes Irwin closed out the regular season with a 225-311 Inter-Ac League victory over Baldwin at Philadelph­ia Country Club.

Lees fired a 2-over par 38, while Boyle carded a 43 and Weise shot a 49. NOTRE DAME 215, SPRINGSIDE CHESTNUT HILL 252 >> Junior Olivia Traynor logged four pars and a birdie to finish with a 4-over par 39 at Overbrook County Club for the Irish. Senior captains Bridget Pyott (five pars, one birdie) and Addie Lennon were not that far behind with

Tennis

a 41 and 42, respective­ly.

Kevin Tran and Abdulai Gassama both won a pair of singles matches as Academy Park topped Chester twice, 5-0, to close out Del Val League play.

Tran won twice at first singles, while Gassama won at third singles and came back and won at second singles in the nightcap.

In the Inter-Ac League: HAVERFORD SCHOOL 7, MALVERN PREP 0 >> Connor Lees did not lose a game at second singles. Benji Bacharach and Mike Pilkington did the same at first doubles for the Fords.

In nonleague action: CHICHESTER 4, SUN VALLEY 3>> Joey Hagel and Cliff Paasewe needed three sets to win at first and second singles, respective­ly, for the Eagles.

Sean Setnick and Preet Patel, and David German and Keith Crego won at third and fourth doubles for the Vanguards.
