Sheila M. Fairfield Our sweet loving mother; a dearest friend like none other; Blessed our hearts with precious kindness and love, Rests now in heaven as our true angel above.
Sheila Margaret Fairfield; nee O’Neill died peacefully at home, with her family by her side, on May 18, 2017.
She was truly a caretaker of all God’s creation demonstrated in her protection of the environment and all living creatures. Her joy in living life to the fullest, with a remarkable sense of humor and gentle words of wisdom, will carry us through as we say goodbye to this simply amazing and inspirational woman.
Sheila Fairfield, a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend devoted her life to serving God, her family and her community. She was an active member of the St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church for nearly 60 years and received the St. John Neumann Award for her outstanding service to Parish Religious Education. Sheila was a lifelong volunteer for multiple charitable organizations, served as Precinct Chairperson of the Cancer Fund of Delaware County and was a Delaware County Republican Committeeperson for 23 years.
Sheila was born in Philadelphia and raised in Collingdale, Pennsylvania. She attended St. Joseph’s elementary school and graduated from Notre Dame, Moylan class of 1955. Sheila loved her Notre Dame classmates whom remained true and lifelong friends. Upon graduation Sheila completed pilot lessons at the Philadelphia Airport and worked for the General Electric Company in Electrical Blueprint Drafting.
Her husband Bruce Fairfield whom she married on June 6, 1957 recently predeceases Sheila. Bruce and Sheila were residents of Norwood PA where together they raised their six children. Sheila is predeceased by her father, John Aloysius O’Neill, mother Margaret Mary Finley O’Neill; nee Maguire, sister Margaret Pearl O’Neill, brothers John, Charles, and James O’Neill, and son Christopher Fairfield.
Sheila is survived by daughter April Fairfield Macgregor, daughter-in-law Marylee Fairfield; nee Logan, and sons Bruce Fairfield and partner Roe Schupp, Scott Fairfield and wife Caroline; nee DiEmedio, Brian Fairfield and wife Gladys; nee Luciano, Bradford Fairfield and wife Kelly; nee Holefelder, and many beloved nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing Thursday Eve, 7PM – 9PM at the Cavanagh Family Funeral Home, 301 Chester Pike, Norwood, Pa 19074 and to her Funeral Mass on Friday at 11AM in the Church of St. Gabriel, Mohawk Ave, Norwood, Pa.
Interment in S.S. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
