Honor Flight seeks World War II and Korea vets
Honor Flight Philadelphia is looking for veterans of World War II and the Korean War for an allexpenses paid day of honor on June 10. Honor Flight is an organization which provides a day of honor traveling to Washington, D.C. for veterans to see their respective war memorials.
The June 10 flight Honor Flight meets at St. Kevin’s Church, Springfield, for this exciting day of memories to last. The trip includes all meals, a guardian to travel with each vet, transportation, and sight-seeing at Arlington Cemetery complete with a changing of the guard ceremony, a visual tour of the Iwo Jima memorial, the Air Force memorial, the Korean War memorial, and concludes with a visit to the long-awaited World War II memorial.

Play golf, benefit Springfield schools
SPRINGFIELD » Springfield Area Educational Foundation and Springfield High School alumni sponsor their annual Golf Outing at the Rolling Green Golf Club at 12:30 p.m. Monday, June 12. The tournament benefits many educational programs for all students in the Springfield School District.
Cost is $250 per golfer; $50 for awards presentation dinner only. The field is limited to 120 golfers. Range, hole and other sponsorship opportunities are currently available. Several legendary Springfield staff members and coaches are planning to play in the 2017 tournament. This year’s tournament also features its traditional helicopter golf ball drop circling the golf club. Registration frees are tax deductible.

Community Day in Prospect June 10
PROSPECT PARK » Prospect Park Fourth of July Association’s Fireworks Celebration and inaugural Community Day is held June 10 at Witmer Field, Fourth Avenue, The Youth Group holds skills contest and pickup games during the day, followed by a Cow Pie Bingo contest at 3 p.m. Live bands kick off the evening at 5, with moon bounces and food trucks!
The association is brand new this year and is planning bigger things in the community than in previous years. It is seeking volunteers for donation collection, selling refreshments and other jobs. For information and to volunteer, search for the association on Facebook.

Cancer survivors celebrate life
SPRINGFIELD » Crozer-Keystone Health System hosts a celebration of life at Cancer Survivors Day at 6 p.m. Monday, June 5, at the Springfield Country Club, 400 W. Sproul Road.
Current and former cancer patients and their families are invited to join in the festivities, featuring remarks from local survivors about their cancer journeys and information from Crozer-Keystone physicians on the latest advances in cancer diagnosis and treatment. The celebration is offered by the physicians, clinicians and staff of all Crozer-Keystone facilities, including Crozer-Chester Medical Center, Delaware County Memorial Hospital, Springfield Hospital, Taylor Hospital, Crozer-Keystone at Broomall and Crozer Brinton Lake.
The event also includes entertainment by local singer Danielle Tumminelli and members of the Cathie Collins School of Dance, raff les, photo opportunities, and the passing of a light in honor of those who have battled and are currently battling cancer. Awards are presented to individuals who support Crozer-Keystone’s fight against cancer. Following the program, attendees can enjoy light refreshments and speak with Crozer-Keystone’s physicians and clinicians.

Running opportunities at Rocky Run Y
MIDDLETOWN » Rocky Run YMCA announces its new Rocky Runners Club meets at 6:15 p.m. Wednesdays and 9 a.m. Sundays in the Y lobby. Led by Running Coach Francie McNally, the runners take off on a few scenic miles run around the Y property.
The new running club is a great way to introduce runners to the picturesque trails behind the Y. Runners of all ages can sign up now for the annual Rocky Run 5K and 10K Trail, set for Friday, May 19. The 5K and 10K trail races both begin on the outside track and enters into the trails behind the Y. The downstream portion of the trails parallels Rocky Run creek, rolling hills and rocky stream vistas.
A Kids Fun Run starts at 6 p.m.; cost is $10. The 10K Trail Run starts at 6:15 p.m. and 5K Trail Run starts at 6:30 p.m.; cost is $30. To register, search for the races at www.runtheday.com. Volunteer opportunities are available. T-shirts are avail- able for the first 150 registered participants.
