Brenda C. Flam

Brenda C. Flam, 78, of Silver Spring, MD passed away on Friday, May 19, 2017 at Holy Cross Hospital. She was a daughter of the late Robert E. and Miriam (Estreicher) Flam.

Brenda, a 1961 graduate of The George Washington University, was a molecular biologist starting her career at National Institute of Health before moving to work at the National Science Foundation for nearly 30 years. In 1991, Brenda received the Meritorious Service Award for her faithful and distinguished service to the National Science Foundation and the science community. Brenda then worked at the Howard Hughes Foundation for several years. After retirement, Brenda was an avid volunteer at the Jewish Community Center in Rockville Maryland as well as at numerous other organizations.

Brenda is survived by her sister Sandra, her niece Risa (and her family Alan, Brandon, and Adrienne), her nephew Eric (and his family Bela, Sophie, and Evan) and many cousins and friends.

A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 12 PM at Congregation Mercy & Truth Cemetery Pottstown, PA. Houck & Gofus Funeral Home, Inc., 955 N. Charlotte St. Pottstown, PA 19464 will be handling the arrangements.
