Premier offense breaks down Busty’s in victory

-

It was Sunday, so naturally it felt like a football day. Premier Orthopaedics scored early and often in the Millennium League, winning 19-6 and 26-14 over Busty’s Tavern.

Greg Watson & Greg Madrigale led the Bone Doctors with three runs scored each in the first game. In the nightcap, Sean Chase homered amid a 16-run inning which included a couple of touchdown passes.

In other Millennium games: BDA OUTSIDERS 12-14, MCSORLEY’S PUB 6-8 >> In Game 1, James Curry had four hits while Sandy Montello and Rich Chambers had three hits each. Rich Chambers and Mark Zoba plated three runs apiece and Curry had five RBIs.

By the p.m. ... Al Layton and Stef Alvanitakis — “who went deep out of Upland Park” (haven’t we all?) — had three hits, along with Curry and Ty Burton. POGUE MAHONE’S 22-12, BARNABY’S 18-9 >> Nick Hall had three hits with a three-run homer and Dave Bush also belted a tri-tripper. Dan Santosusso, Dave Yarnall and Bob Doherty all had three hits as PM’s won the opener.

They’d close it off when Mike Malkoun went 4 for 4 and Santosusso, Hall and Bush all added three hits. GALLE ELECTRIC BOMBERS 20-12, UPLANDAC10-10>> Todd Abbott had two home runs to pace the Bombers early. Brad Yori and Bob Miller had four hits each in that opener.

The second game details were subject to the weariness of the game reporter, who apparently pooped out. APPLEGATE SOFTBALL 14-12, MILLER’S ALE HOUSE/JUBILEE CATERING 13-8 >> John Malloy’s walk-off home run in extra time gave Applegate the extra boost it needed to slip past for a one-run win in the first game. Franco Cardongo hit a grand slam the nightcap to help complete the sweep.

On the day, how about Eric Pernhog with seven hits as Applegate went to 12-0 on the season. R.P. MCMURPHY’S 19-20, SHANKO LANDSCAPING 5-13 >> Ron Mitnick went 7 for 8 from the plate on the day and was the winning pitcher in one of the games as Arepee’s swept the DH. Ivan Moreales was also 7 for 8 and Sean Matthews had six hits, including a three-run double early on. GRAMLICK CONSTRUCTION 9-15, COCCA’S PIZZA & PUB 4-13 >> Mike Kusner, Billy Leighton and Timmy Fallon all had two hits and two runs scored in the opener. Gramlick swept up when Leighton and Kusner had three hits and Dan Laird had two hits and two runs. CASEY’SRIDLEYPARKPEACOCKS247,ROTHMANINSTITUTE14-12>> In the second game, because that’s the one that really matters, Tom Reilly and Tim Ryan had three hits each.

Casey’s put together a 10-run fifth inning, then were psyched when T.J. Wachter tripled home a run in the seventh to lift the Saloondudes to a 15-14 win over Clank’s Bar.

In Game Deuce, it wasn’t so close. Joe Lincke, John Jordan, Kyle Haggerty, Mike Schnarrs, Mike Kingsbury and Matt Battinieri all had two hits and Mike Kimple had a tworun triple as Casey’s won 12-6. Mike Kingsbury pitched both games. KEYS20-24,KEYSTONE4-5>> Damien Perkins had five hits with three runs scored while Mikey Chambers (five RBIs) and Ron Stankey Jr. had six hits each as the Keys ran rampant around the bases.
