Chester woman wounded in drive-by shooting
CHESTER >> A woman was twice struck by bullets sprayed in a driveby shooting Friday around 11:05 p.m. at the intersection of 21st and Edgmont Avenue, police said.
Shardonae Tillery, 25, said she was sitting on the front porch of a residence at 5 East 21st Street when a “light-colored SUV” drove by and started shooting. Tillery was struck in the right abdomen and in the right buttocks as she ran into the home.
Taken to Crozer-Chester Medical Center, Tillery was listed in stable condition.
Detective James Chubb said the vehicle was described as “silverish” SUV, but had little other confirmed details.
Three weeks ago, on April 28 around 8 p.m., five people were hit in a drive-by shooting on the same block of East 21st Street.
Upon arrival at that scene, officers discovered five victims injured by bullets — a 21-year-old man was struck four times in the leg; a 30-year-old man was struck once in the leg; a 31-year-old man was struck twice in the back; a 22-yearold man was struck once in the left leg; and a 44-year-old woman was struck once in the left leg.
Police did not offer a description of that vehicle, but Chubb said the vehicles did not have a similar description.
Detective Steven Byrne has been assigned to investigated both incidents.
“At this point, we’re not linking them together,” Chubb said. “We don’t know if they’re related or not.”
Chubb added that the neighborhood of 21st and Edgmont offers “constant gunfire in that area.”
“There are numerous shootings on a weekly basis,” he said.
Individuals with nformation regarding either shooting incident are asked to call Byrne at 610-447-8430.
Delco District Attorney Jack Whelan announced earlier this month a $2,500 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone possessing illegal guns.
