UPPER PROVIDENCE >> The 43rd annual Delaware County Summer Festival, featuring many local Delaware County performers and some of the best tribute bands on the East Coast, kicks off on Wednesday, June 14, in Rose Tree Park. The free outdoor concert series is held every Wednesday through Sunday for nine weeks throughout the summer. This season’s concert series features 45 live performances at the outdoor amphitheater in Rose Tree Park and offers residents the chance to enjoy a wide variety of free music with family and friends.

Opening night on June 14 features a performance by the Delaware County Symphony, performing “Rhapsody & Rapture,” a combination of Beethoven’s 5th Symphony and Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. Delco’s own Audra McLaughlin from NBC’s “The Voice” headlines the June 29 show. The 2017 season also features the Fabulous Greece Band, The Rose Tree Pops, Jimmy and the Parrots and The Upper Darby Summer Stage Shooting Stars. This is the first time the Summer Festival is participating in Make Music Philly, with a children’s concert June 21 from Peter Moses.

“Delaware County Council is once again thrilled to offer this free outdoor concert series for our residents this summer,” said Councilman Dave White, council’s liaison to the Department of Parks and Recreation. “The Summer Festival is a great way to enjoy a night with your family and friends in beautiful Rose Tree Park. It’s also a great way for us to support and enjoy many of our talented local performers.”

Residents are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket. Snacks and refreshments are available for purchase during the concerts. Picnics are welcome; no alcohol or pets are permitted.
