Briarcliff­e’s Shepherd brilliant in shutting down Marple 2

Paul Shepherd went the route, fanned 11 and scattered five hits as Briarcliff­e blanked Marple 2, 6-0, in Senior EDCO baseball Wednesday.

Rian Bluford led the offense with two hits and two RBIs. Tim Durante had a single, a run scored and played solid defense at shortstop.

In the Delco League: CONCORD 6, UPPER DARBY 4 >> The Canes used a three-run outburst in the fifth inning to break the game open.

Nate Sides was on base five times and scored twice. Andrew Belfiglio added three hits, while Colin Birzes and Cole Gamber pitched in with two hits each. Joe Phillips tossed four innings in relief to get the win. Frank Savitski earned the save.

In the Delco MSBL: GLEN MILLS RAYS 7, MEDIA MUSTANGS 1 >> Mike Zurawski allowed five hits and fanned five in a complete-game effort.

Max Fortuna went 3-for-4 with two runs scored to pace the offense. Randy Milia and Joey King chipped in with two hits each.

Softball

Brian Kucharik and Dan Fradette slugged back-toback homers in the first inning and Frankie’s on Fairview never looked back in a 20-9 romp over Haggerty’s in the Delco League.

Kucharik went 4-for-5 with five RBIs, while Fradette was 5-for-5 with a pair of dingers, five runs scored and four RBIs. UTC UNION 16, RAM’S HEAD 13 >> Anthony Lusi and Chris Ness slapped four hits each. Lusi knocked in a pair of runs and Christian Softball Ness scored twice. Joe Duffy added two hits, including a homer and four RBis.

In the Suburban Women’s Slow Pitch League: DOLAN’S 15, HAGGERTY’S 11 >> Heather Szychulski led the way with four hits and three RBIs. Laura Miles (two RBIs) and Amy DeNight (RBI) added two hits each.
