MIDDLETOWN » Rose Tree Media School District invites community members invited to participate in “Path to Working Together as a Community to Accommodate Projected Enrollment Growth” at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 6, at Penncrest High School, 134 Barren Road, Media. Discussions and presentations focus on the condition of existing school facilities and what needs to be done to plan for growing enrollment. If residents have thoughts or opinions on addressing enrollment growth and its impact on facilities, the district wants to hear from them.

Last year, a demographic study was performed to determine the impact of an upcoming enrollment increase of 233 students due to projected real estate developments in Edgmont Township, Media Borough and Middletown Township. The next step in preparing for this increase is a building capacity study to be completed by the architectural firm Marotta/Man. As part of the firm’s preparation, they will meet with administrators and staff members to discuss current and future needs at each school, followed by the public meeting with the community on June 6.

Through this open dialogue and idea exchange, the district hopes to discuss the condition of existing school facilities and how they’re used and hear the community’s input on the use of the schools by the community, the current grade structure, the number of students served at each school and maintaining or making changes to the current schools.
